We have launched a new version of the Caylix Safe search engine. Try it out, and let us know what you think!

The old search engine was provided by Kliksafe, and only searched within the whitelist. The challenge that many white list users encountered, is that if you want to find a website that is not yet on the whitelist, it is impossible to request whitelisting since you don't know the URL (website address). Additionally, the quality of the search results was not as accurate or as clean as we would like.

The new search engine uses Google behind the scenes. To ensure that the results are still safe, we use 3 levels of filtering:

1) Google SafeSearch. This Google feature automatically filters out any results that Google considers unsafe, including illegal and pornographic content.

2) Caylix Flexible. If a site is blacklisted or blocked by our word filter, the entire result will be removed from the result list. Not even the title or URL will be displayed.

3) Caylix Safe. If a website is on the Caylix Whitelist, then the site description will be shown. If it is not on the whitelist, the description will be hidden. In either case, the title and server name will still be shown.

For the displayed results, there are some buttons to request Rescreening or addition to the whitelist.

We have done this for a few other reasons. The first is to make Caylix Safe (whitelist) more usable for Safe users. The second reason is to help Flexible users to switch to Safe, if they rarely need full Internet access and only visit a few sites. A 3rd reason is so that Caylix users can better help to improve the size and quality of the whitelist, which helps everyone.
