The general process is as follows. Since July 2009 we have tried to streamline the process and reduce the paperwork required for most customers.
In most cases, Caylix customers can install everything themselves. We provide free phone support for the internet connection part. (If your computer needs other work done, such as Windows Updates or removal of old software or virii, that would be billable.)
If you need us to come onsite, extra charges will apply.
If you are on a highspeed wireless connection, the setup fee (which ranges from $100-$550) includes having a technician come out and install the necessary equipment. This process typically takes between 2 and 6 hours. In this case, they might help you with setting up your computer and testing that the connection works.
Generally, no.
As long as you are in our service area, switching is easy because you already have all the software and hardware that you need. For example, if you are on Telus or Bell ADSL, all we do is ask them to switch your line to Caylix. This process takes about 5 business days. Once they have completed the change, you can follow the simple instructions on the Caylix Welcome Sheet to reconfigure your browser and email programs. If you have encounter any challenges, just give us a call.
Switching a dialup (56K) account is even easier, and can be done within 1 business day.
For people who already have highspeed, but are outside of our highspeed ADSL areas, we are now able to offer the Caylix Filter Box which allows you to have a Caylix protected connection as well.
