Bandwidth limits increased

As you may or may not know, all Caylix connections are limited to how many hours AND/OR or traffic usage are permitted in any given month. Even on a 24x7 highspeed connection, there are limits. This is because a highspeed connection is capable of downloading massive amounts of information in a short amount of time.

Bandwidth is typically measured in GigaBytes (GB). To give you a perspective on how much this is, one GB contains more information then a single CD-Rom disk or 700 floppy disks. Our systems count the total used by each customer, whether it is from sending/receiving emails or from downloading web pages, music, videos, and so forth.

Before 2008, we never billed the "extra" traffic usage (also called bandwidth usage), even though we pay our suppliers for every GB that our users download. Starting at the beginning of 2008, we have started to bill the extra traffic so that we can recover our costs and stay in business.

In response to customer feedback and also awareness of the general industry trend of allowing more traffic and higher connection speeds, we have negotiated some better pricing with our suppliers. Thus, we have increased the allowed bandwidth on all packages. For example, Home ADSL packages can now have 10 GB, and Small Business packages 20 GB. Prices on overage traffic have been reduced as well.

If you find you need additional traffic every month, consider upgrading your package or simply pre-purchasing bandwidth at a discounted price.

The company policy remains to bill for monthly recurring services (so your normal connection charge) at the beginning of each month. On each invoice, we include the extra dialup hours and traffic usage that were generated during the previous month.
